How Typing Lessons Works
Introduction to the AlfaTyping.com
AlfaTyping.com provides full typing study course for free in two languages - English and Russian.
There are 60 lessons in English and 50 lessons in Russian. All these lessons have their recommended results to be achieved, in terms of WPM (Words per minute) and Accuracy. Although there is no strict rule to stop you to moving to the next lesson before you achieve results of current lesson, we strongly recommend to you to achieve these results. For example, Lesson #2 in English Learn "d", "f", "j" and "k" keys has recommended results: 16 wpm, 94% accuracy, and even you do not achieve these results, you can move forward to the Lesson #3, but if you do not achieve these results by repeating this lesson before you move to the next lesson, the next lesson would be very difficult to learn.
How to start
In order to access typing lessons, you have to sign up. Please, read our Privacy Statement first to be familiar about the reasons of collection and cases of use personal information, provided during registration process.
After successful registration, you will have access to the personal cabinet, where you will have access to typing lessons:
As you can see from this picture, the typing wizard always informs you what was your previous lesson (Section #1), shows your results in a line with recommended results of this lesson, and shows your next lesson (Section #2). You can repeat your previous lesson, or start the next lesson.
In the Section #3 there is a drop-down list where listed all lessons of the selected language, where you can always pick up desired lesson and start learning it.
The Typing Lesson
When you start the actual typing lesson by clicking Repeat or Start buttons, AlfaTyping.com tries to open selected lesson in a separate window:
As you can see from the picture, it shows the right fingers for each character at the beginning, and lesson won't get started until you press the Start button. Remember that using right fingers for every character is a very crucial, and following these rules will guarantee the success!
In the left corner of the window there is a speed-o-meter, which shows your current speed, like in a car. Right below of the speed-o-meter there is a timer, which shows the time spent. In the right corner of the window a Info-Bar, which shows total characters of the current lesson, How many characters left, and count of errors (one mistyped character counts for one error)
Lesson Hints:
Correcting errors: If you mistyped the character and made an error, simply press the Backspace key on your keyboard to fix it
Restarting lesson: After starting the lesson if you feel that you going to fail, or someone disturbed you and you lost your time, then simply press F5 button on your keyboard to restart the lesson.
Pause: - if you want to pause a lesson, click 'Pause' button in the lesson window or press ESC button on your keyboard - and lesson will freeze until you continue.
Lesson Results
After you finish the lesson it automatically moves you to the results window, where your results gets saved in our database, and gives you some more options:
Here you can repeat this lesson, or close this window by clicking Finish button
How the change the Lesson Language
By default, you always start with English lessons, but if you want to learn typing in Russian, then you need to change it manually - to do that, simply click to the Typing Options link in the left side of the window, and pickup the Russian from drop-down list in Keyboard Layout section and click Change button.
