In this course the following variants of training are possible: a lesson, a practice, and a test.
The course is intended for beginning typists. For those who want to improve their typing skills, there is an opportunity independently to choose which lessons to take. All features are accessible only after registration.
LESSON: In the beginning of a lesson to you will be shown what fingers to use to press each key. Also, on the screen there will be a picture of a keyboard, which will help you, in case you have forgotten, where a given key is located. Do not look at the keyboard on which you type, or your typing speed will be greatly reduced. If you have failed to achieve the necessary results, it is better to try again. Automatically advancing to the followin lesson before you are ready will make it much more difficult.
During a lesson the following auxiliary keys are accessible to you:
- ESC - to begin a lesson or pause a lesson
- Backspace - to correct a mistake.
- F5 - to begin a lesson again.
The counter during a lesson is used for calculate typing speed. It will begin timing you only after you type the first letter. So you can take your time to arrange your fingers on the keyboard, before you begin to type.
The speed shows, how many words per minute you are typing at the given moment. On the right, you can see how many letters there are in the given lesson, how many you needed to type and how many mistakes you have made so far.
PRACTICE: During a practice or test, the keyboard from the screen will be removed. In practice activities, your purpose will be to increase speed with the least amount of mistakes. These practice activities will help you stregthen typing of the featured letters and symbols. In the beginning it will be difficult without the keyboard on the screen, but after several attempts it will become easier. Usually, you will do a practice activity after you finish several lessons. During practice the same auxiliary keys are accessible to you which are accessible to you during a lesson.
TEST: During a test, the keyboard will be removed from the screen. The purpose of the test almost the same as the practice. The difference is that after passing certain tests your "level" will be raised. There are following levels:
- Beginning level - little or no experience typing.
- Average level - Knows where the majorities of alphabetic keys are and can type with two or more fingers.
- Advanced level - Can type all letters and punctuation with all fingers. Typing speed is not less than 30 words per minute.
- Expert level - Knows where all letters and symbols are located on the keyboard. Typing speed is not less than 40 words per minute.
After finishing all lessons, practices and test, you have the oppotunity to take a Certification Exam. For this pupose, you should write an email to us your username. After that, you will receive instructions on how to take the final test.
