Typing Tutorial Instructions

Advice: We strongly recommend that you take a demo lesson at least once to get familiar with typing tutor.

In this tutorial, the following variants of training are possible: a lesson, a practice, and a test. The course is intended for beginner typists. For those who want to improve their typing skills, there is an option independently to choose which lessons to take. All features will be accessible only after registration.

LESSON: At the beginning of a lesson you will see an image with the finger scheeme that shows which finger to use to press each key. Do not look at the keyboard while you type. Pay more attention to accuracy rather than to typing speed, accuracy is more important and plays a major role in calculating your WPM. The more mistakes you make, the lower WPM you will get at the end.

PRACTICE: During a practice or typing test, the keyboard will be removed from the screen. In practice activities, your purpose is to increase speed with the least amount of mistakes. These trainings will help you strengthen your typing skills. In the beginning, it will be difficult to type without keyboard on the screen, but after a while, it will become much easier.

TEST: During a test, the keyboard will be removed from the screen. The purpose of the test almost the same as that of a practice. The difference is that after passing certain tests your "typing level" will be raised. There are following typist levels:

1. Beginning typist - little or no experience typing.
2. Average typist - Knows where the majorities of alphabetic keys are and can type with two or more fingers.
3. Advanced typist - Can type all letters and punctuation with all fingers. The typing speed is not less than 30 words per minute.
4. Expert typist - Knows where all the letters and symbols are located on the keyboard. Typing speed is not less than 40 words per minute.

Typing games are a great way to improve your typing speed and accuracy. These typing games make practicing keyboarding more enjoyable and fun. Play typing games often and watch your typing skills improve!

After finishing all lessons, practices and tests, you will be provided access to the examination room, where you can try to pass the final certification exam. If you pass it, you will obtain your free online typing certificate.
